Achievements
Government Affairs Achievements
The following achievements have benefited EVERY PRINTING COMPANY IN ARIZONA and have collectively saved all of us time and money.
• AIR QUALITY GUIDELINES ENACTED: Wrote suggested favorable guidelines which were enacted
• ACCELERATED DEPRECIATION: Fought for and won accelerated depreciation for print equipment incorporating digital processes
• USE TAX DEFINITION OF PRINTING CLARYFIED: During a re-write of rules for job printing, AZDOR “left out” key industry exemptions previously earned while attempting to add “duplication of digital information” to the job printing classification. The final rules were written to the satisfaction of the printing industry.
• EQUIPMENT EXEMPTION ALLOWED: Successfully struck language ion HB2182 (2003) that would have repealed the tax exemption.
• STATE PRINT PROCURMENT: Successfully presented guidelines for the overhaul of the state procurement system.
• SALES (TPT) and USE TAX GUIDE: Compiled and produced a guide Tax Guide specifically for the printing industry – AZDOR Approved.
• BILL PASSED - TRADE ZONE TAX INCENTIVES: Successfully supported and lobbied for print companies under 100 employee to be included in the Trade Zone Incentives.
• BILL PASSED - CHEMICAL TAX EXEMPTION: Successfully supported and lobbied for the exemption of chemicals used to process materials during the printing process.
* BILL PASSED - POSTAGE AND FREIGHT EXEMPTION: Successfully wrote and lobbied for wording in the Job Printing Classification for the AZ DOR to consider exempt postage and freight when line itemed on an invoice and not marked up for profit - something that previously was not clarified and on which tax had been levied.
* BILL PASSED - ENTERPRISE ZONE PROGRAM: Successfully added verbage to the re-authorization of this program that would INCLUDE commercial printers whereas previously commercial printers were EXCLUDED from participation in this important program.
